Freaknik

If you talk to anyone who has been in Atlanta for 15yrs or more they can tell you about the pandemonium that “was” (and this weekend “will be”) Freaknik. The last time Atlanta saw Freaknik it was around 98-99. I grew up on the eastside and Memorial Drive was ground zero. I saw a little bit of everything…

The traffic.

The street vendors selling everything from knock off gucci purses to condoms. The mixtapes for sale that were actually tapes!

The stereo systems turned up to capacity playing Kilo Ali, Raheem the Dream, DJ Taz, So So Def Allstars, Inoj, KP & Envyi,  and other various forms of bass music.

This being said AtlantaGotSole has taken much pleasure in putting together this post in order to celebrate the return of Freaknik. Whether you aren’t familiar with a party of this magnitude, or your reminiscing about a time in your life you probably won’t ever tell your kids about. These photos are for you. We also plan on dropping a freaknik video anthem for each day of freaknik. Stay freaky Atlanta…

Enjoy
