Let’s play a word association game! I’ll give you a definition or description & you see if you can give me the word! Ready? Okay cool! The definition is “Too much of a GOOD thing is a BAD thing” specifically in the city of Atlanta. Whats the word? Give up??? ANSWER: Parties! Promoting is the new “Rapping”… Everyone does it! And like rapping only a select few do it on a level worth mentioning. Everyone has their own personal tastes & opinions, but lets face facts. Consistency is key! If you don’t have a resume that says your the best, then your probably not. So what happens when people responsible for some of the best events in the city get together to throw one event? ANSWER: HauteMess

HauteMess is a party that merges Dubstep & various forms of southern hip hop (Crunk, Trap Music, etc.). The venue is King Plow, which has becoming a spot associated with great events like the ONE Music Fest & now HauteMess. HauteMess is the result of a collaborative effort from DJs/Party Promoters Mayhem SLR & DJ Megan Foxxx, who are responsible for events like HEAVY in East Atlanta. And DJ Dibiase along with Fadia Kader who’s name is attached to any event worth attending in Atlanta. The end result is party and a performance that is centered on merging of Dubstep & Southern Hip Hop. And an eclectic group of party goers that until now had very little common ground. What else could you ask for? But why?

“Its an entire movement thats going on right now. And we’re at the forefront of it.” says DJ Megan Foxxx. “I launched HEAVY to be a platform for mixing southern rap records and dubstep together in a way that could be expanded out to a wider audeince. Dubstep is very niche music but it mixes really well with southern rap which is ATL’s main export. We all listen to it so we just combined it together. I started djing so i could promote the music i produce and i produce for rappers so i just started putting them on beats that i wanted to hear more than the ones that were getting on albums and played on radio. Now we’ve started a new movement in ATL music. HAUTE MESS is the perfect combination, the next evolution of this movement. We’ve been doing this 21+ trench party (with HEAVY) and now HAUTE MESS we’re doing an 18+ more polished production with incredible sound and lighting full stages and live performances. Its the next evolution. As far as bringing Fadia Kader and Dibiase into the equation I’ve been wanting to work with Fadia for awhile we’ve talked about it in passing. She saw me perform at the atl indie fest and i think that sparked her intrest further. I also attend broke n boujee and Dibiase is the resident there. He’s been breaking my records to his crowds he plays for and like none of the ppl that come to my shows show up there but we’re all dancing to the same music. It just didnt make sense to me why we couldnt combine our talents and throw a party that really merged our crowds but to do that i felt like we needed a new venue entirely. Which is where King Plow came into play. King Plow has been wanting to do an event with me for a year now but the timing just has never been right. King Plow is a large venue and i knew that if we acted on it too soon we wouldnt be able to fill the venue and thats not a good look for anyone. So by waiting and making the 21+ event one of the most popular parties in the city all the 18+ wanna go but cant get in. So i used the opportunity to throw HAUTE MESS at king plow. A new venue for everyone involved. In order to truely bridge the gap in scenes you needed someone whose feet were in both worlds. And that was me. I dont know about you but when i was at haute mess for the first time i felt the same kind of vibe that i felt back at the royal when sloppy seconds started. Just with a new sound, one thats coming from the underground of atlanta. One that we can all get behind.” DJ Megan Foxxx

Were two HauteMess events in and it’s already created a buzz in the city. The most recent was headlined by Hollyweerd, an eclectic group that consists of rappers/musisicans whose style is overwhelmingly influenced by southern music. The first was YelaWolf. If you haven’t already looked at the footage twice, take a look back at the quality of his performance. This isn’t your average club appearance. A heart pounding sound system & a stellar lighting display contribute to the experience in ways other events can’t. This type of production is on par with a concert.

So wrapping up our word association game. If the definition is “The best party you can ever imagine”, whats the first word that should come to mind??? I’ll let you finish that one on your own… Stay tuned for more updates on the next HauteMess & anticipated performances. -SLP
