Mattel, Inc. releases the latest edition of Barbie dolls: the Grace Kelly. The company conceptualized three Barbie dolls and the people at Bornrich.com already summed it up for us:
1. “To Catch a Thief” Barbie
This doll is just like Grace’s character in the movie To Catch a Thief, the doll is sculpted in strong plastic body and wears an elegant shoulder flowing gown in sky blue color. The doll has a chiffon scarf around its neck and is complimented with a matching clutch purse. The hair represents the original Grace as it is done in an upswept chignon. This doll truly epitomizes the true beauty of Kelly, costs $34.95 and is available from June 2011.
2. Grace Kelly Bride Barbie
This Grace Kelly sculpture doll represents the time when she got married to Rainier III, Prince of Monaco and became Princess Consort of Monaco. This doll wears the exact replica of the long sleeve lace wedding dress that the princess herself wore on her wedding. To complete the look, the company has adorned the doll with a delicate headpiece and veil, and holds a bouquet of white flowers. To give a complete wedding look, the doll also has a prayer book just like Kelly had in 1956 during her wedding. The doll costs $175.00 and is available from August 2011.
3. The Romance Barbie
This replica of Grace has been designed to honor the time when princess met Rainier III, Prince of Monaco for the very first time at the 1955 Cannes Film Festival and fell for each other. The doll is inspired by her look at the Film Fest as she wore a dress with fabulous floral print which was black in color with a tight bodice and flared full skirt. The look is complimented with a string of pearls. The doll costs $135.00 and will be available from October this year.
The dolls retail from $35 to $175 and a percentage of the profit will benefit the Princess Grace Foundation-USA, which helps up-and-coming artists in theater, dance and film through scholarships, apprenticeships and fellowships.
