AGS Interview with LG


AGS had the opportunity to sit down with New Orleans own LG to discuss an array of topics. The young man has a particular talent and lyrical ability that draws many into his musical recordings. Fresh off the heels of A3C we get a chance to look into this refreshing new artist.

AGS: Having the chance to catch you down at A3C during the perfect attendance stage, really thought you did a stellar job. How was the overall A3C experience for you?

LG: Thank you. It was cool, it was a good look for me. That was my first time traveling too on some shit, and it was for a show. So A3C is now significant in my career.

 

AGS: New Orleans has such a rich musical tradition. Within blues, jazz, funk, and second Linin, how do those aspects of music play a part in your makeup as an artist?

LG: That’s part of my culture. Growing up around all that mixture of music you just name, gave me an ear for this shit like no other.

 

AGS: There is a refreshing wave of artist coming out of New Orleans with guys like K. Gates, Chels, Dee 1, Bonka and Da Goonz with you being a focal figure within that scene, how do you feel about the new energy of hip hop in New Orleans?

LG: Niggaz gettin it in! The talent starting to speak for it self. But this aint nothing new, we been having that music down here. We just working that internet right. Im happy to see everybody winning though. s/o to DA GOONZ

 

AGS: You are a rather young guy, but your abilities are far beyond your numerical age, where did that concentration to lyricism and rhyme structure come from?

LG: Im a good writer. Like with compositions, essays and things of that nature. And English happens to be my favorite subject.

 

AGS: Tell us how has the reception been from your peers about your career and much deserved success in music?

LG: No lie, Im in class chillin one day, and all of a sudden these 2 girls try and sneak an take pictures with me and of me. Its crazy, but everybody supporting me, happy to see me winning.

 

AGS: We get a chance to view the scene down there from afar through outlets like RFRSH. They have been very proactive in pushing the movement in New Orleans. How did the situation with you and RFRSH come about?

LG: I wanted to do a Listening Session for the release of my mixtape Cinco. A few of my homies and I were thinking of some places, we even visited a few facilities. In the mist of that time, my homie text me and was like you should do it at Re:Fresh and I thought it was a good idea. I told my cuz Fe, he made the call and since then its been good.

 

AGS: Building upon that thought what role does fashion play within your overall presentation as an artist?

LG: I just like that fresh shit. Me and all my homies. My whole life I been into dat fresh shit. I grew up seeing nothing but fresh niggas in my neighborhood.

 

AGS: How has the reception been to your last project “Cinco”?

LG: Its been great! Shit people are noticing because of the strength of that project. People are honestly enjoying my work.

 

AGS: We really feel that “Cinco” was a very strong project, on the horizon what do you have coming up to follow “Cinco”?

LG: Im working on a mixtape titled Synth Sounds. Classic shit.

 

AGS: What would be your dream collaboration musically?

LG: A hook from Sade and verses from Nas and Scarface. All on the same track with me.

 

AGS: Having the chance to read a strong post on you over at Mauricegarland.com When the guys like Maurice whose opinion matters, champion your abilities. What does that say about your movement and you as an artist?

LG: People noticing man, people looking. That was a great article he wrote by the way.
