“Yo! MTV Raps” will return for one night only on MTV2 at 11 pm on December 4 after MTV2′s Sucker Free Awards. The hip-hop program, that aired from 1988 to 1995, will be called Yo! MTV Raps Classic Cuts and will revisit iconic songs from the show’s original runs.
In the special, MTV will focus on 3 songs; “Scenario” by A Tribe Called Quest, “My Minds Playing Tricks on Me” by Geto Boys and Ice Cube’s “It Was a Good Day”. The complete stories behind these tracks will be told.
Expect to see a lot of hip-hop influentials such as ?uestlove, Busta Rhymes, Ice Cube, DJ Khaled, Q-Tip, Wiz Khalifa, Young Jeezy, Common and many more. And of course it wouldn’t be a Yo! MTV Raps night without former hosts Fab 5 Freddy, Ed Lover and Doctor Dré. DJ Premier will remix the original theme song.
