This networking thing is not a joke. We are not playing out here. So I meet Antonio Facey, DXC , which begat to following them on Twitter, which begat a tweet about Shalom CPP on my TL and here we are – the begotten. How can I not be drawn to such a company? I say shalom often and they rep the Bay Area. These things just don’t happen, they exist.
Here is a little background information for you all. Shalom Cultural Peace Project was started in 1999 (5760 in the lunar calendar) by Jacob Alexander Seedman, a talented skateboarder who grew up in the skate/surf culture of sunny California. He was thinking of opening a skateboard shop but decided that clothing would be a better medium to promote his message. What message? Why I am glad that you asked. The message of peace and living a positive life. After an unforeseen trademark battle, he relaunched in 2005 and has been focusing on building the brand and expanding it’s merchandise. The headquarters are now in Santa Cruz, CA and the list of individuals that they sponsor includes: Prezident Brown, DJ Toure of Hieroglyphics, Luke Braddock, DJ Stepwise, EL- Rock, Peoples, Maxwell Smarts, Mattie Bush, DJ Defect, and list continues. They have even gained such fans as Mac Miller, who is seen wearing the brand frequently.
The company has launched a Shalom Project Kickstarter to raise money to further promote peace by giving back to the community. You can visit the website by clicking on the above link to get more information and make a donation. The most recent collaboration is with Prezident Brown, who they met in 2009, with a line of exclusive gear that can only be bought at a Prez Brown concert or on Shalom CPP’s website only. This a great way to cross promote, people are introduced to or reacquainted with Shalom CPP and Prez Brown. Look out for a reggae mixtape that is in the works. A new website is set to launch in the mid to late April. But until then, check out the pictures so you can get a jumpstart on the Spring 2012 Collection. Remember that the President Brown and Shalom CPP collaboration have only 25 t-shirts per design and color so hurry up and buy supplies are almost gone.
Here are just a few of the ways to stay updated with what Shalom CPP has in store.
